Te Akau Ellerslie Preview
5 April, 2015
Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered for the nine race programme on Monday 6 April at Ellerslie.
As on Sunday 5 April the conditions were: cloudy and Good3, rail out nine metres.
1.45 p.m. R4 3 Gran Via (2 c Stratum - The Party Stand) - Matt Cameron; got back off the pace but produced a big finish for second, after circling wide, when debuting on March 11 in the Maiden 2YO 1200 metres at Matamata. In the 2YO 1300 metres he again meets Let Her Rip (Rip Van Winkle), whom beat him at Matamata, amongst a solid field of two-year-olds. His dam, The Party Stand (Thorn Park), included victory in the NZ Stakes (Gr. 1, 2000m) on this course amid seven wins from only seventeen starts and this bloke shows to have inherited ability.
4.05 p.m. R8 2 Highly Likely (4 g High Chaparral - Starrinka) - Matt Cameron; has fashioned a good record with five starts rendering two wins and two seconds. Resuming off 177-day, with two trials under his belt, in the Rating 75 1600 metres, he is probably going to require more distance and give in the ground before proving ultra competitive but his talent alone could see him go a cheeky race fresh.
