7.38 p.m. R6 8 Wide Awake (3 g Savabeel - Kay's Awake) - Michael McNab; came from second last and nine lengths from the leader at the 600m with a strong finish for second, fresh-up in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres on 25 January at Avondale, clocking the fastest last 600m (34.5). Drawn barrier six in the Maiden 1500 metres, a smooth passage should see him as an each way chance in an even field.
