Te Akau Ellerslie Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered for the ten-race premier programme on Saturday March 8 at Ellerslie.

As on Friday March 7 the conditions were: fine and Dead4, rail out 4.5 metres.

4:26pm R7 10 Angelica Hall (3 f Guillotine - Greta Hall) - Matt Cameron; resumes off an 83-day break in the Mr Tiz Trophy (Gr. 3, 1200m), drawn barrier four. Last time out, she came from off the pace for an impressive course/distance win, beating Demandz (Command), on Dec. 15 and was then given a freshen-up with this race in mind. She produced an eye-catching trial for third to El Roca (Fastnet Rock) over 1000 metres recently at Avondale, is unbeaten in two starts and while likely to settle off the pace in a field loaded with speed she has the athleticism to get into the finish.

5:06pm R8 7 Precious Time (6 m Stravinsky - Ana Zeel) - Matt Cameron; was run off her feet in a very quick mile (1:34.1) in the Benchmark 85 1600 metres on Feb. 22 at Matamata, running through the line in staying fashion and she steps up in distance from barrier three in the Benchmark 85 2100 metres. With a victory over 2200 metres and fourth at her only course attempt, she is already a winner this time in and has what it takes to prove competitive.
