Te Akau Ellerslie Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered for the nine-race premier programme on Saturday Nov. 29 at Ellerslie.

As on Friday Nov. 28 the conditions were: fine and Good3, rail out 2.5 metres.

2.45 p.m. R5 12 Sonsy (3 f Thorn Park - Flowing) - Matt Cameron; freshened following a solid debut second over 1200 metres on Sept. 19 at Taupo, she looked good coming from off the pace for second in a trial on Oct. 28 at Te Aroha. Drawn barrier five in the Maiden 1400 metres, the form in the race will provide a good guide to where she lies at this stage of her career should she be right in the firing line at the finish. She has looked smart along the way and while 1400m at this stage of her prep appears ideal she has both the scope and pedigree to go considerably further.

3.57 p.m. R7 9 Tiara (4 m O'Reilly - Royal Lady) - Lee Magorrian (a2); did plenty before finding the front and led her rivals a merry chase in winning the Rating 65 1600 metres in a slick time (1:34.7) on Nov. 8 at Te Rapa, with this rider aboard. Remaining in the same grade to contest the Rating 65 1600m from barrier four, she faces a different line-up but won her maiden over mile going this way around at Tauranga, and certainly has the ability and overall form to prove competitive again.
