1 June, 2019
Te Akau New Zealand has two horses racing on Saturday 1 June at Ellerslie.
Weather: raining, track: Slow8, rail: out 7.5 metres. 3mls rain forecast Friday, 5mls Saturday.
12.43 p.m. R2 3 Sasso Corbaro (4 m All Too Hard - Furline) - Vinnie Colgan; finished solidly for a close sixth on Slow8 in the weight-for-age Rotorua Stakes (Gr. 3, 1400m) on 11 May at Rotorua. Impressive winning the Rating 82 1200 metres on Slow8 when fresh-up in February at Otaki, she ran the fastest final 600m (33.2) in the Lightning Handicap (Listed, 1200m) on Wellington Cup Day (16 March) at Trentham. A blood irregularity caused a glitch in April at Hastings, but she is over that, appears to handle wet ground, and rates a top three chance in the $30,000 Rating 82 1200 metres. Fixed odds: $3.10 & $1.35.
1.52 p.m. R4 3 Burgundy Belle (3 f Burgundy - Spin ‘N Grin) - Michael Coleman; won her first two starts impressively before spelling after a notable fifth in the Mongolian Khan Trophy (Gr. 3, 1200m) on Karaka Million Night (26 Jan.) at Ellerslie. She resumed with a very good third in the 3YO 1200 metres on 14 April at Te Rapa, made it three wins from five starts when bolting in on 5 May in the 3YO 1400 metres at Trentham, given heavy footing, and ideally placed to prove very competitive again in the $25,000 3YO 1400 metres. Fixed odds: $2.60 & $1.30.
