Te Akau Ellerslie Saturday Preview

Date: 10 Jul 2020

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Saturday 11 July at Ellerslie.

Weather: fine, track: Heavy10, rail: out 6 metres. Showers forecast.

12.32 p.m. R4 11 Brymaar (4 m Ekraar - Belorussiya) - Danielle Johnson; recorded two fourths when trialling in June at Te Rapa, and debuts in the $15,000 Maiden 2YO & Up 1200 metres. Her dam, Belorussiya (Mr. Nancho), won twice to 1670 metres, placing 10 times, and her ability to handle rain-affected going could benefit the progeny. Fixed odds: $6.00 & $2.25.

12.32 p.m. R4 13 O'Pristine (4 m O'Reilly - So Pristine) - Samantha Collett; trialled well for close fourth on 9 June at Te Rapa, and resumes in the $15,000 Maiden 2YO & Up 1200 metres. Her dam, So Pristine (Zabeel), won six times to 2200 metres in New Zealand, before Group 2 success over 1600 metres in Australia. Handling conditions will be paramount. Fixed odds: $5.50 & $2.15.

1.07 p.m. R5 2 O'Connor (3 g Charm Spirit - Courtney) - Chad Ormsby; trialled on 9 June at Te Rapa, and resumes in the $15,000 Maiden 2YO & Up 1200 metres. From impressive winning mare Courtney (Montjeu) (2000m - 2500m), who handled slow footing, he is bred to suit further but could go a cheeky race fresh up. Fixed odds: $8.50 & $2.90.
