Weather: cloudy, track: Slow8, rail: true. 7mls rain forecast Friday, showers Saturday.

12.05 p.m. R1 8 Charmaine's Dream (3 f Charm Spirit - Scatter Cat) - Lisa Allpress; finished third when resuming in the Maiden 3YO 1050 metres on 17 March at Matamata, before dictating terms in front to win the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on Easter Monday (5 April) at Tauranga. Much will depend on her ability to handle conditions and negate the draw (12), stepping in grade for the $22,500 Rating 65 1200 metres. Fixed odds: $9.50 & $3.10.

1.15 p.m. R3 4 Bonita Aurelia (3 f Sweynesse - Cassie May) - Danielle Johnson; improved by her fresh-up third against good opponents in the 3YO 1200 metres on 20 March at Tauranga, she proved too good winning the 3YO 1400 metres on 9 April at Awapuni. Winner of the Woburn Farm 2YO Classic (Gr. 3, 1200m) and third in the Matamata Breeders' Stakes (Gr. 2, 1200m), she has returned to form and rates a top three chance in the $25,000 3YO 1400 metres. Fixed odds: $3.40 & $1.45.

1.50 p.m. R4 2 Bak Da Master (6 g Mastercraftsman - Bak Da Princess) - Michael McNab; recorded four wins during his previous campaign, and resumed with a notable performance for second in the Rating 74 1600 metres on 31 March at Matamata. Versatile on the flat and over fences, he should go well in the $27,500 Rating 74 2100 metres if appreciative of the course at his first attempt. Fixed odds: $4.80 & $1.95.

4.10 p.m. R8 5 Markus Aurelius (4 g Ghibellines - Evancho) - Danielle Johnson; made it three from three this time in, with Te Akau apprentice Joe Kamaruddin aboard, winning the Open 1500 metres here on Easter Saturday (3 April). The winner of six from 11, his last four by big margins, he gets his chance up in class for the $100,000 Manco Easter Handicap (Gr. 2, 1600m). Fixed odds: $2.20 & $1.30.

4.45 p.m. R9 5 Radegast (4 g Savabeel - Marveen) - Opie Bosson; has finished fourth, second, fourth, at his last three starts, most recently in the Rating 65 1600 metres on 8 April at Wanganui. If appreciative of slow footing and able to negate the draw (16), he is capable of another solid effort. Fixed odds: $7.50 & $2.60.
