Te Akau Ellerslie Trials' Report

Te Akau trialled horses on Thursday May 15 at Ellerslie
The trials were conducted on the inside track and the footing was slow.

Heat 5 2YO 800 metres (nose, ¾ lengths 48.2)
Latin Rose (2 f Mastercraftsman - Down View) - Kelly Myers; jumped away well to position second on the fence. She challenged on straightening and after entering into a duel was beaten by a nose.

Heat 6 2YO 800 metres (1 length, ¾ lengths 48.5)
Realize (2 g Redoute's Choice - Rationalize) - Matt Cameron; jumped away from a wide gate to travel quite keenly in third and fourth.

Heat 13 2YO 800 metres (½ a length, ½ a length 48.8)
2 f Guillotine - Clearbrook Lane - Matt Cameron; was steadied to settle three wide with cover and working between runners in the straight, once in the clear she let down stylishly to win well.

Heat 13 2YO 800 metres (1 ¼ lengths, 1 ½ lengths 48.5)
2 f Mastercraftsman - Montjeu Way - Matt Cameron; jumped away to camp outside the leader, but was a caught a little flat-footed when the sprint was on in the straight.

Heat 15 Maiden 800 metres (¾ lengths, 1 length 48.9)
Super Power (3 f Alamosa - Key of Future) - Matt Cameron; was hampered after leaving the gates and she was checked back to near last. A big striding filly that was outpaced over the sprint trip, she held her position in the trial and was strong through the line.
