Date: 30 Aug 2022
On Heavy10 footing, under clear skies, Te Akau horses Aromatic (Sacred Falls) and Dynastic (Almanzor), Self Obsession (Shocking) and The Perfect Pink (Savabeel), had exhibition gallops between races on Sunday at Matamata.
Ridden by Troy Harris, Dynastic sat a length off Aromatic, with Te Akau and last season's Champion Apprentice Joe Kamaruddin aboard, before levelling in the straight and crossing the line in unison, while the second pairing of Self Obsession with Niranjan Parmar aboard and The Perfect Pink, under Craig Grylls, worked together throughout.
Each pairing worked over 1000 metres, with Aromatic and Dynastic clocking 1:03.7, 800m in 50.8, 600m in 37.3, while Self Obsession and The Perfect Pink did similar work before rounding off in 37.6 for the last 600m.
Running through the line for seventh in the Opunake Cup (Listed, 1400m) on 23 July at New Plymouth, and since trialled for fourth on 16 August at Avondale, stakes' placed, three-time winner Aromatic is scheduled for the $40,000 Open 1500 this Sunday (4 September) at Te Rapa.
Karaka Million 2YO (Restricted Listed, 1200m) winner and Group One placed Dynastic is preparing for the $80,000 El Roca-Sir Colin Meads Trophy (Listed, 1200m) on 10 September at Hastings.
Self Obsession, who tied for first with stable-mate Belle En Rouge (Burgundy), for New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year, the winner of three Group Two races and Group One placed, is scheduled for a stakes' trial before racing commences on Wednesday 7 September at Avondale.
The Perfect Pink, who led home a Te Akau first four in the 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m), is also scheduled for a stakes' trial before racing commences on Wednesday 7 September at Avondale.
