Rockfast (Hercock) worked over 1400 metres in 1:34.5, last 600m in 39. Runner-up on the 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1600m) at his last outing, Rockfast (Fastnet Rock) is on target to contest the Great Northern Guineas (Gr. 2, 1600m) on January 1 at Ellerslie. Trainer Jason Bridgman has always believed the colt would improve once stepped up further in distance and gets his chance in lead up races, ahead of his ultimate in the New Zealand Derby (Gr. 1, 2400m) on February 28 at Ellerslie.
