Te Akau Friday Update
31 January, 2014

Yesterday afternoon Te Akau purchased its final yearling at the Karaka Sale - a Per Incanto filly out of Trove for $62,500, making her a half sister to Group 3 Merial Ancare Mile winner Thrive. This filly was bred by Ken Browne, a stock agent from Hastings and was sold within two minutes of being purchased.
Mark Walker and I then hopped into the car and drove home to Te Akau Stud and spent the next three hours driving around farm looking at all the magnificent yearlings that we have purchased.
In total I bought 35 yearlings from the Premier Sale and eight from the Select Sale and I am thrilled to report that shares in them are selling very quickly. There is huge interest in the horses that we purchased.
This morning Mark and I inspected all the yearlings again to ensure they were all settled in their paddocks and they are very happy indeed. Then it was time for Mark to leave for Auckland Airport as he flew out at 1pm to Singapore.
We have no racing in Singapore tonight if you are wondering, due to Chinese New Year. However they will meet at Kranji on Saturday and Sunday.
Tomorrow our attention turns to Te Rapa where we have some good chances firstly in the 2YO race and then in the Group 2 Darci Brahma Waikato Guineas. In the south, Dreamer will hunt black type at Wingatui.
We are also thrilled to recently be given some lovely fillies to train and we just can't wait to start breaking them in, in about a month's time.
To everyone who has so far purchased a share in a horse with us - congratulations and well done - you have exciting times ahead. To those of you who are still looking to come into a horse with us - you are very welcome to call us and arrange to come and see our new yearlings here at the farm, you will be made very welcome by Karyn and me.
Remember on our "Yearlings and Shares" page you just click on the photo of the horse that interests you and you will see all details including cost, pedigree and our evaluation of that horse.
We have truly outstanding young racehorses in the making and it certainly is an exciting time to be involved with Te Akau where we do put our owners first. Call David anytime on 07 825 4701 to inquire about joining our successful and fun team - or email Karyn - [email protected]
