Recently I went back through our newsletters and read my comments in the January edition before the yearling sales.
I told you this year would be a buyer's year and that there would be fantastic buying opportunities. Well I was not wrong and it was a buyer's market and especially on the first day where we actually bought just about everything that we really wanted. It is such a thrill for me going around the farm seeing the best bunch of young horses I have ever seen. Full credit to everybody who reads our web site because so many of you have purchased shares in them.
We have just sold the last share in the Savabeel/Legs colt - a classy colt who I paid $200,000 for - and some pretty good judges invested in him.
Another colt to have the SOLD sign on is the Bel Esprit colt, Lot 330, who now also has a waiting list for shares.
Shares in all the horses are selling very quickly so if you want to be involved in our great industry please ring us on 07 825 4701.
In over 30 years of buying horses I can't remember them ever selling so quickly.
The yearling I am concentrating on this weekend is the Exceed and Excel filly Lot 49. This is a really classy filly by a wonderful sire. As you can see below, she has natural strength, great balance and good bone. In fact she is one of my favourites, just a gorgeous filly.
We paid $120,000 for this filly so a 20% share would be $24,000 plus GST, a 10% share would be $12,000 plus GST and a 5% share would be $6,000 plus GST.
If you want to be part of this filly give us a call - she really looks like a real 2YO type who could also well take her place in the Karaka Million. I think this filly will also be in the Group 2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes this weekend next year.
We have three good chances at Matamata tomorrow - Precious Time, Flaming and Rockfast.
Flaming contests the Group 2 Matamata breeders' Stakes - a race that Te Akau has won five times. Rockfast lines up in the Listed Slipper for the colts and the geldings, a race Te Akau is proud to have won four times previously.
Matamata Breeders' Stakes day is a fun day and I can't wait to be there. It has been a very lucky day for Te Akau in the past.
