Te Akau Friday Update

Xtravagant came home yesterday afternoon from Australia and looks amazing.  He is now in a beautiful big paddock here at Te Akau Stud enjoying the grass.  He is in the same paddock that King's Chapel, Darci Brahma and Rock 'n' Pop used to spell in.

With all our Karaka and Magic Millions' yearlings all but sold (we have 10% remaining in the Commands colt and 5% in the Pour Moi filly) our attention is turning to horses that had caught my eye and that were passed in.

One colt that I bought yesterday was a Pentire colt (yes the same sire as Xtravagant and the 2015 Melbourne Cup winner Prince of Penzance) out of a Stravinsky mare Organdy - making this colt a half brother to the record breaking, Group 1 winner Time Keeper.  Time Keeper was a serious racehorse and I mean a SERIOUS racehorse, winning the Group 1 Easter Handicap as a three year old - beating the older horses.  Interestingly enough, it was November Rain who finished second to him and of course I bought her first foal, a Pour Moi colt, this year.  Here he is .... he won't last long!

Doesn't he look a super type - pedigree and good looks to boot and a 10% share is only $7000 plus GST - great post-sale buying!

PS Jamie Richards rode the Commands/Adulterer colt (who we have nicknamed Tiger) yesterday morning at the track on his first day there and said he gave him an amazing feeling!  I cannot believe there is still 10% available in him - Karyn has already snapped up her share!
