Te Akau Friday Update

I have waited a long time for this week to arrive but it finally did and it certainly was a buyers' market at Karaka for the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale.
This was due to a number of reasons, none of which has any relevance on the horses that we have purchased, but never the less, they did impact the sale prices.
Firstly, overall, the New Zealand bred horses have had a disappointing Spring and Autumn internationally. This happens occasionally however you will see this turn around in the next few months for sure, but we were very quiet this Spring.
Secondly, as a buyer, I felt many vendors had unreasonable reserves on their horses, and this certainly doesn't do much for the buyer's sense of humour. Thirdly, the announcements by some overseas countries of stake reductions certainly didn't help.
So, while it was a disappointing sale for the vendors, it was great buying for team Te Akau.
To give you an example, I bought Lot 56, a colt by Shamexpress out of Hot Stash (I really love this colt) for $185,000. I thought he was a great buying.
He is a terrific example of equine excellence - a beautiful horse and of course, Shamexpress is doing really well as a young sire. He has impressed me so much that Karyn and I sent three mares to him this Spring.

So if you want to be involved with the next 2000 Guineas runner at Riccarton, this horse is a "must buy". A 10% share in him is $19,250 +GST, while a 5% is only $$9,625 +GST.
Shares in our horses sell very quickly, and I would recommend contacting us today. He has great pedigree, and I just love him.
Speaking of shares in our horses - Te Akau is right in the mood of today's BLACK FRIDAY theme - and we have a READY TO RUN BLACK FRIDAY OFFER - it is only available until midnight Sunday! If you buy a share in any of our Ready to Run horses, we will include two months of training fees in your purchase, for free! Imagine this - the perfect Christmas present for family or friends!
What brilliant rain we had had on the farm. Controlling the feed is now our problem and what a great problem it is to have! We haven't sold any cattle yet, and they are putting on over 2kgs a day while grazing on our top quality grass. What is even more exciting is that we are due to have more good rain this weekend. This is the best early Christmas present I could ask for.
To view the horses that we have purchased at the Karaka Ready to Run sale, click on the Yearlings and Shares page on our website - www.teakauracing.com. Again, I can't stress enough the importance of contacting us today to avoid the disappointment of not being involved with these horses.
