Te Akau Friday Update

Congratulations to Cameron George on his appointment to the Board of New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing.

I first met Cameron when he was appointed Chief Stipendiary Steward and even then, he made an immediate impact. Cameron then went on to become an outstanding Chief Executive of the Auckland Racing Club.

He is a capable, clear thinking man with a passion and great understanding of the New Zealand Racing industry, and I am thrilled he is now on the Board.

In other great news for the industry, Roaring Lion, the World Champion three-year-old is standing at Cambridge Stud this coming season. What a massive boost this is for our industry. Well done Brendan and Jo Lindsay, you both sure are making a difference since purchasing Cambridge Stud.

Sometimes I am asked why I purchase so many horses from Karaka. Well, the answer is quite simple: 11 of the 18 runners in the Derby in Sydney tomorrow were sold at Karaka - now that is unbelievable, isn't it?

We had another nice winner yesterday at Wanganui, with Military Step striding ahead of the rest of the field. We also have some good chances today at Awapuni.

Karyn and I head to Sydney today to cheer on Probabeel and In A Twinkling in their Group 1 assignments tomorrow at Royal Randwick - and then we will be at the Easter Sale next week. Below please enjoy some photos from the team of Avantage and In A Twinkling enjoying some beach work.

Best of luck to all our owners who have runners today and over the weekend - in New Zealand and in Sydney and in Singapore -

GO THE TANGERINE!!
