Te Akau Wanganui Friday Preview
19 February, 2021
Te Akau Racing has four horses entered on Friday 19 February at Wanganui.
Weather: fine, track: Slow8, rail: true. No rain forecast.
12.00 p.m. R1 1 Noverre (2 c Savabeel - Magic Dancer) - Opie Bosson; won both trials before running home in the fastest last 600m (35.1) on the day, finishing second, when debuting in the Pearl Series Maiden 2YO 1200 metres on 25 January at Matamata. With that experience under his belt, and the addition of visor blinkers, he should prove tough in the $10,000 Maiden 2YO 1200 metres.
1.07 p.m. R3 13 It's My Party (3 f Darci Brahma - A La Votre) - Johnathan Parkes; picked up into third when trialling on 2 February at Rotorua, and debuts in the $10,000 NZB Insurance Pearl Series Maiden Fillies & Mares 1200 metres (eligible $11,500 bonus). From a Volksraad mare that won three times to 1600 metres, she is ideally drawn (2) to produce a solid first-up performance.
3.27 p.m. R7 1 Leaderboard (6 g Street Cry - Flower Fairy) - Opie Bosson; freshened after returning from Australia, and following two trials, he resumes in the $11,000 Rating 74 1600 metres. A winner over 2400 metres in Ireland, he notched consecutive wins when scoring over 2000 metres during Cup Week last season at Riccarton, and should race well from barrier three before stepping up.
3.27 p.m. R7 8 Zouluminous (4 m Zoustar - Luminous Harmony) - Sam Weatherley; was given a beautiful ride to win the Rating 65 1800 metres on 30 December at Taupo, and not far away in tight-quarters on 25 January in the Rating 74 2000 metres at Matamata. Back in trip for the $11,000 Rating 74 1600 metres, she was a course/distance Maiden winner by four lengths and appears a top four prospect from barrier five.
