Te Akau Geelong Friday Preview

Te Akau Racing has two horses entered on Friday 19 June at Geelong (Victoria).

Geelong:

Weather: showers, track: Heavy9, rail: out 6 metres. Showers forecast Thursday and no rain Friday.

3:30 p.m. (NZ) - 1:30 p.m. (Vic) R2 4 Gold Chalice (2 c Snitzel – Harlow Gold) – Craig Williams; he quickened appreciably after coursing wide on Soft7 going when winning a jump out on 1 June at Cranbourne, and debuts in the A$42,500 Maiden 2YO 1125 metres. By four-time Champion Sire Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice), his dam Harlow Gold (Tavistock) was a dual winner to 1600 metres and was Group One placed in both the Group 1 VRC Oaks (2500m) and Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) - won this year by Te Akau trained Belle Cheval. He shapes to race well first-up if appreciative of conditions. NZ TAB fixed odds: $4.60 & $1.90.

6:00 p.m. (NZ) - 4:00 p.m. (Vic) R7 8 Noble Steed (5 g Zed – Test Of Honour) – Will Gordon; he finished well for fifth after being patiently ridden in the 0 – 62 Handicap 2200 metres on 29 May at Bendigo, and contests the A$35,000 Benchmark 62 1733 metres. He won over 1860 metres when resuming in March, and was a Maiden winner on a Heavy 9 surface. He placed on course at his only previous attempt, and appears capable of racing well again. NZ TAB fixed odds: $20.00 & $5.00.
