Te Akau Gisborne Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Sunday 17 February at Gisborne.

As on Saturday 16 the conditions were: fine and Dead4, rail true. No rain forecast.

1.55 p.m. R2 1 Rock Idol(4 g Rock ‘N' Pop - Edesia) - Craig Grylls; was overhauled after leading when resuming in the Maiden 1400 metres on 19 December at Matamata, and given time (60 days) he contests the $10,000 Maiden 2YO & Up 1200 metres. A trial winner over 1250 metres, he should go well.

3.39 p.m. R5 2 Full of Grace(4 g O'Reilly - Tuesday's Child) - Craig Grylls; was caught wide when resuming over 1200 metres on 3 January at Te Aroha, before finishing sixth in the Rating 65 1400 metres on 28 January at Te Teko. A good Maiden winner over 1400 metres last autumn, he rates an each way chance from barrier four in the $12,000 Rating 65 1600 metres.

4.14 p.m. R6 5 Wide Awake(5 g Savabeel - Kay's Awake) - Chelsea Burdan (a4); freshened since finishing second in the Rating 82 1800 metres during Cup Week at Riccarton, in a Southern campaign that registered a win, second, and three fourths. Burdan was aboard in a good trial outing on 5 February at Te Aroha, and claiming to 54kgs in the $30,000 Poverty Bay Cup (Rating 82 1600 metres) where another consistent performance is expected.

4.50 p.m. R7 1 Beau Geste(4 g Pour Moi - Villa Wanda) - Craig Grylls; has been given time (61 days) since resuming in the Maiden 1600 metres at Ruakaka, and contests the $10,000 Maiden 1600 metres. An improver through his first four start campaign, with two fourths and a second, he is a half-brother to multiple Group One winner Wall Street (Montjeu), and perfectly drawn (1) to produce a solid effort.
