Te Akau Hastings Midweek Preview

Te Akau Racing has five horses entered on Wednesday 13 December at Hastings.

Weather: cloudy, track: Soft6, rail: out 5 metres. No rain forecast.

3:52 p.m. R3 9 Family Ties (4 m Contributer – Glamazon) – Warren Kennedy; she made it consecutive thirds with a strong performance in the Rating 75 1600 metres on 11 November at Te Rapa, and was without all favours when holding her spot for sixth in the Rating 75 2000 metres. Back in trip for the $25,000 Rating 75 1600 metres, she is a course winner at only attempt, and is ideally drawn (2) to rate a top three chance. Fixed odds: $4.20 & $1.75.

4:27 p.m. R4 13 Bella Voce (3 f Fastnet Rock – Keep On Singing) – Michael McNab; she ranged three wide and kept finding for second in a trial on 22 November at Taupo, and debuts in the $25,000 Maiden 1200 metres. In the mould of her Champion Sire Fastnet Rock (Danehill), from a fast mare, she looks nicely positioned to make good impression first-up. Fixed odds: $4.00 & $1.75.

5:02 p.m. R5 5 Sophisticardo (5 g Burgundy – Glamorous Girl) – Johnathan Parkes; he finished off well in his trial on 5 December at Waipa, and resumes in the $25,000 Rating 75 1200 metres. A talented galloper from the impressive winning mare Glamorous Girl (Thorn Park), he has shown to perform well in a fresh condition, and has first four claims from barrier two - the first of a stable duo lining up in the event. Fixed odds: $10.00 & $3.30.

5:02 p.m. R5 9 Polly Plum (5 m Xtravagant – Herstory) – Warren Kennedy; she kept up a strong gallop to win a trial on 13 November at Waipa, but raced below expectations when resuming in the Rating 75 1200 metres on 25 November at Wanganui. Ideally drawn (4), she receives an opportunity to improve in the $25,000 Rating 75 1200 metres. Fixed odds: $12.00 & $3.80.

5:34 p.m. R6 8 Star In The Sky (4 m Savabeel – Pikari Star) – Michael McNab; she was nice through the line for a staying horse over a sprint trip in a trial on 5 December at Waipa, and resumes in the $25,000 Rating 75 1400 metres. She ended her previous campaign with a win, and while destined for further and awkwardly drawn (10), look for her to be finding the line strongly. Fixed odds: $7.50 & $2.50
