Te Akau Hastings Midweek Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Wednesday 26 February at Hastings (twilight meeting).

Weather: overcast, track: Dead5, rail: true. No rain forecast.

2.09 p.m. R1 8 When In Paris (3 f Pierro - Bulle De Champagne) - Danielle Johnson; found the line solidly for fourth here on debut in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on 29 January and steps up in the $10,000 Maiden  1300 metres. Drawn the outside (7) in a small field, she gets a chance to improve further.

3.54 p.m. R4 1 Griffin (5 g Iffraaj - Double Elle) - Chelsea Burdan (a3); kept up a strong gallop for second when trialling on 11 February at Te Teko, and resumes in the $25,000 Rating 72 1300 metres. He won three from six last season, each with Burdan aboard, and although drawn wide (9) is assisted by weight relief to 59.5kgs.

6.15 p.m. R8 5 Exaltation (3 f Not A Single Doubt - Meleka Belle) - Opie Bosson; impressed winning her only start, over 1200 metres in October at Riccarton, beating subsequent dual winner Savvy Lad (Savabeel). A half-sister to stable-mate and Horse of the Year Melody Belle (Commands), winner of 10 Group Ones, she was smart through the line when trialling on 11 February at Te Teko. Expect a patient ride from barrier eight in the $22,500 Rating 65 1200 metres and look for her to be getting home strongly.
