Te Akau Hastings Preview
Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Sunday 6 November at Hastings.
As on Saturday 5 November the conditions were: fine and Dead5, rail out 6 metres. No rain forecast.

3.20 p.m. R5 3 Epic Tale (3 g Snitzel - Mini Tales) - Michael McNab; debuted nicely for seventh, without a lot of clear room in the straight, but still running the fastest last 600m (35.2) over 1200 metres at Ruakaka. He has been given time since (25 days) and steps up to 1400 metres. A lovely type of horse, he boasts richness in pedigree and further improvement would see him as an each way chance.

3.20 p.m. R5 6 Maleficent (4 m Rip Van Winkle - Fairy Tipsy) - Kelly McCulloch; also made her debut at the meeting on October 12 at Ruakaka, where the winner, Masu (Red Giant), subsequently ran a good third on Melbourne Cup Day at Ellerslie. The aid of visor blinkers should see her rounding off solidly.

5.07 p.m. R8 4 King Kane (3 g Showcasing - Vannista Belle) - Michael McNab; was a victim of the wide draw, coming from last and running a faster final 600m (35.7) than the winner, Floating Heart (Encosta De Lago), in the Maiden 1400 metres on October 12 at Ruakaka. He galloped home solidly out of midfield for fifth prior, with McNab aboard, on debut in the Maiden 1400 metres at Te Rapa, and should be suited stepping to 1600 metres.

5.07 p.m. R8 5 Shocking Luck (3 g Shocking - Shamardal Luck) - Cameron Lammas; ran on from back in the field for sixth on debut in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres at Ruakaka, and with blinkers on, from barrier one, should be able to take up a handier position in the Maiden 1600 metres. His dam, Shamardal Luck (Shamardal), won over 2100 metres and he appears a nice staying type in the making.
