Te Akau Hawera Preview
25 May, 2014
Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered for the eight-race programme on Monday May 26 at Hawera.
As on Sunday May 25 the conditions were: fine and Slow7, rail in the true position.
1:11pm R2 4 Secret Whisper (5 g Align - Danewhisper) - Matt Cameron; settled off pace and quickened wide on the track in the straight for a convincing fresh up win on May 7 in the benchmark 75 1400 metres on Slow9 footing at Matamata. Also resuming, the second horse Joey Jonz (Starjo) was a second up winner on Saturday in a strong field at Ellerslie. Up in grade and distance for the benchmark 85 1600 metres, he brings the right form to test his six rivals providing he displays a liking for the course.
1:46pm R3 5 Highly Likely (3 g High Chaparral - Starrinka) - Matt Cameron; put up a good performance wide on the track to win a recent trial over 1400 metres on near to heavy footing at Te Awamutu, and makes his debut from the outside (barrier 12) in the Maiden 3YO 1600 metres. He certainly sports good bloodlines with the influence of Volksraad (Green Desert) and Zabeel (Sir Tristram) on his dam side and appears the type to keep improving with maturity on his first up outing here.
