Te Akau Hawera Preview
14 March, 2016
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the eight race programme on Monday 14 March at Hawera.
As on Sunday 13 March the conditions were: overcast and Good2, rail true. Eight mls of rain is forecast race day.
12.37 p.m. R1 6 I See Fire (3 f Encosta De Lago - Chasing Mammon) - Cameron Lammas; fought hard after setting a comfortable pace to finish second on February 10 in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres at Avondale, and indicates the step to a mile should be ideal. She appears a solid chance in an even field of six.
1.37 p.m. R3 4 Herschal (3 g Savabeel - Starring) - Cameron Lammas; resumes off 59 days in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres, having worked home well from last in a recent trial at Cambridge. Destined to run over more ground, he will be allowed to find his feet and round off solidly.
3.54 p.m. R7 3 Beacon of Hope (3 g Fastnet Rock - Randaroo) - Cameron Lammas; was given a reprieve after notching consecutive wins in January and off 49 days he contests the Rating 75 1200 metres. He handled rain-affected Dead4 footing on January 8 in the Maiden 1400 metres at Rotorua, and again over 1400 metres got the job done from the front on January 25 at Woodville. While the stakes performed Steel Rose (Guillotine) is likely to command plenty of attention, he strikes a field in which to threaten.
