Te Akau Hawera Sunday Preview

Te Akau Racing has two horses entered on Sunday 7 August at Hawera.

Weather: fine, track: Heavy10, rail: true. 4mls rain forecast Saturday and 4mls Sunday.

12:35 p.m. R2 11 Accidental Tourist (3 g Telperion - Megara) - Craig Grylls; completed a Te Akau trifecta on debut, finishing third to subsequent dual Group Two placed I Choose You (I Am Invincible) and winner Grace ‘N' Grey (Spirit of Boom) over 1100 metres in November at Te Aroha. He produced a smart trial win on 28 June at Te Rapa, was on heels in fourth at the trials on 19 July at Cambridge (poly-track), and should go well fresh-up if appreciative of the footing in the $14,000 Maiden 1200 metres. Fixed odds: $3.00 & $1.45.

1:10 p.m. R3 1 Lightning Field (6 g Deep Field - Claudine) - Joe Kamaruddin (a1); ended his previous campaign winning the Rating 74 1400 metres (Soft7) here on 27 April and was without clear room when close up among the minors in a trial on 19 July at Cambridge (poly-track). All his four wins have come on soft ground, and while he meets a few with race fitness, he should be getting home strongly fresh-up in the $14,000 Rating 75 1200 metres. Fixed odds: $7.00 & $2.50.
