Te Akau Karaka Sales Update
28 January, 2015

The Karaka Premier Sale finished last night and can only be described as a very successful sale. I am absolutely delighted and proud to have been able to secure 23 horses that Te Akau will sell shares in and train.
Shares in these horses are selling very quickly and the three top priced yearlings that I have bought have gone into a syndicate comprising three yearlings - the Fastnet Rock/Myrrh colt I bought for $400,000, the Snitzel/Mini Tales colt I bought for $400,000 and the sales' topping lot, our Fastnet Rock/Il Quello Veloce filly who cost $800,000.

These are three of the nicest yearlings I have seen at Karaka in recent years and they have all settled in well at Te Akau Stud already. We will give them four weeks in the paddock to relax, unwind and recover from the yearling sales.
I have always felt that the sales' preparation for these popular horses is like running a race at the carnivals. The Fastnet Rock filly for example was being paraded about 25 times each day so I was very proud of the way she handled the occasion - especially when the media asked me to go down for photographs with the filly, she behaved like a star! She was so composed and just looked like a champion athlete. I am sure you can see this from her photos.

We will aim her for the Group 2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes, the Group 1 Diamond Stakes at Ellerslie and the Group 1 Sires' Produce Stakes (like Mum won) at Manawatu. Then I would like to think we can take her to Queensland for a race such as the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes, this is the Group 1 two year old race we won with Darci Brahma.
Shares in this syndicate are selling very quickly, if you would like to be involved please feel free to give me a call on 021 925 151.
It was not just the expensive horses that we bought, we bought a beautiful Redwood colt for just $30,000 from Valachi Downs (breeders of Silent Achiever) and a 10% share in that colt is just $3,000 plus GST.
Overall, what an fantastic start to the week and we are at the sales to try and buy some more today! Keep an eye out on our yearlings and shares' page HERE.
