"Te Akau Lockdown Love"

Welcome to Day 17 of our feature - as our world around us changes indelibly, we want to bring some smiles and sunshine every day - yes a small distraction but it does everyone good to be able to smile when times are tough.

This boy is something of a stable favourite - he's the perfect son any mother would want - polite, handsome, cheeky, kind, loves food and simply is a joy to be around - plus did we mention, he LOVES cuddles! And he's very well behaved with young women!!

Meet Brad - his race name is Age of Fire and he's a Group 1 winner! He came from Sydney, raced in New Zealand winning at the Group 1 level, went back to Australia where he was stakes' placed. Now to race he is back in New Zealand - he's very lucky this was pre Covid-19 or he would have been sent to a hotel in Auckland to quarantine.

Right now Brad is hanging with his best girlfriend Avantage (it's okay he IS a gelding!!) here they are ........

As a spring three-year-old, Age of Fire  (Fastnet Rock - Dragon's Tail, by Galileo) entered 2000 Guineas' calculations winning the Inglewood Stud Guineas Trial (1400m) at Riccarton.

He then finished third in the Barneswood Farm Stakes (Gr. 3, 1400 metres) at Ashburton, before a mighty run from the rear for second in the 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) to stable-mate Embellish (Savabeel), with Te Akau Shark (Rip Van Winkle) a nose away (fourth) from a Te Akau trifecta - in a race they have won six times.

Having produced a performance deserved of Group One success in the 2000 Guineas, and following a herculean effort to steal victory at his next start in the Shaws Wires Ropes 3YO 1400 metres on Boxing Day at Ellerslie, he clipped the ticket with some authority in the Levin Classic (Gr. 1, 1600m) on 13 January at Trentham.

A hapless stint followed in Australia, but he trialled well (second and two firsts) before clocking the same last 600m sectional (33.2) as the winner when resuming over 1200 metres in March at Ellerslie.
