Te Akau Manawatu Preview
11 April, 2014
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the eight-race programme on Friday April 11 at Awapuni.
As on Friday morning the conditions were: overcast and Dead4, rail out 3 metres.
12:50pm R1 3 Stanica Star (7 g Danzero - Stanica) - Mick Dee (a1); continued his very good form with a second up win on March 19 in the Jumpers High-Weight over 1600 metres at Pukekohe, with Daniel Miller aboard. Having won three of his last five starts, two of those with this rider aboard, he remains at his pet distance in the Benchmark 85 1600 metres and brings the right form.
4:20pm R7 8 Precious Time (6 m Stravinsky - Ana Zeel) - Kelly Myers; was checked out of contention in the straight on March 8 in the Benchmark 85 2100 metres and now contests the Manawatu Breeders Stakes (Gr. 3, 2000m) off 34-days. A winner here at her only course attempt, second up in this campaign, over a mile with this rider aboard, she strikes a couple of smart mares at the head of the field but has her share of ability to prove competitive with a trip to suit.
4:55pm R8 8 Sneaky Feelings (4 m High Chaparral - Landara) - Mick Dee (a1); ran a solid race resuming on March 17 in the Benchmark 65 1400 metres on Slow7 footing at Te Teko. Three starts ago she cleared maidens over a mile on heavy footing at Matamata, at her second outing, and with forecast rain she could strike give in the ground to suit in the last race of the day.
