Te Akau Matamata Midweek Preview

Te Akau Racing has 10 horses entered on Wednesday 8 June at Matamata.

Weather: fine, track: Heavy9, rail: out 4 metres. Showers forecast.

11:47 a.m. R1 11 Trieste (3 f Tivaci - Domani Oro) - Joe Kamaruddin (a1); resumed with a strong finish for third to subsequent winner Alchemia (Per Incanto) in a Maiden 1200 metres on 20 April at Matamata, and was a close sixth in a Maiden 1400 metres on 14 May at Rotorua. Given time (25 days), stepping up in the $12,000 Maiden 3YO 1600 metres should suit and she has the form to suggest a bold showing if appreciative of the footing.

12:54 p.m. R3 5 She's A Showoff (3 f Showcasing - Que Sera) - Opie Bosson; ran the fastest final 600m (34.5) for second in a Maiden 3YO 1230 metres on 29 April at Rotorua, and closed well after drawing the outside (14) in a Pearl Series Maiden 1200 metres here on 13 May, won by stable-mate Hayate (Maurice). Her dam impressed winning on slow ground, and she shapes to race well with any luck from her wide draw (16) in the $12,000 Maiden Fillies & Mares 1200 metres - one of two fillies in the race for the stable.

12:54 p.m. R3 4 Savito (3 f Savabeel - Suavito) - Michael McNab; checked inside the 600m before flying home for fourth in a Pearl Series Maiden 1200 metres here on 13 May, won by stable-mate Hayate (Maurice). Dam Sauvito (Thorn Park) won both the Futurity Stakes (Gr. 1, 1400m) and C F Orr Stakes (Gr. 1, 1400m) at Caulfield, and she rates a top three chance, if appreciative of the footing, in the $12,000 Fillies & Mares Maiden 1200 metres.

1:29 p.m. R4 6 Asperitas (3 g Shooting to Win - Sehaab) - Opie Bosson; was caught very wide when resuming here on 13 May in a Maiden 1200 metres won by stable-mate Eridor (Telperion). He kept finding for fourth in a Te Akau first four, won by subsequent winner Highborn (Savabeel), over 1200 metres here in January and has finished strongly on slow ground at the trials. He receives the opportunity to bounce back with luck from a wide draw (16) in the $12,000 Maiden 1200 metres - the first of two for the stable.

1:29 p.m. R4 13 Ifyourample (3 f Iffraaj - More than Adequate) - Joe Kamaruddin (a1); was shuffled back and had no luck when resuming in a Pearl Series Maiden 1200 metres here on 13 May, won by stable-mate Hayate (Maurice). She had notable form prior and should race well with a decent trip from barrier 12 in the $12,000 Maiden 1200 metres.

2:05 p.m. R5 2 Ready to Drink (3 g Burgundy - Corsage) - Opie Bosson; mounted a big run from last when finishing third to stable-mate Eridor (Telperion) in a Maiden 1200 metres here on 13 May and steps up in the $12,000 Maiden 1400 metres. He brings the right form to rate a top three chance from barrier five - another event with a stable duo.

2:05 p.m. R5 15 Boomer (3 g Iffraaj - Kate Cross) - Joe Kamaruddin (a1); was back and wide throughout when resuming in a Maiden 3YO 1200 metres here on 13 May, and steps up in the $12,000 Maiden 1400 metres. His dam recorded all four wins on slow ground, which may suit him, but he requires luck as yet another with a nightmare draw (17).

2:44 p.m. R6 1 Sternland (3 f Astern - Landslide) - Joe Kamaruddin (a1); fought hard for third to stable-mate I'm Not Bossy (Jimmy Choux), a Te Akau trifecta, in a Maiden 1400 metres on 20 April at Matamata, and raced well for second in a Maiden 1400 metres on 14 May at Rotorua. She looks a top three prospect from barrier four in the $12,000 Fillies & Mares Maiden 1400 metres.

3:24 p.m. R7 10 Millefiori (3 f Iffraaj - Miss Bluebell) - Opie Bosson; fought on after circling from last in the 3YO 1400 metres on 14 May at Rotorua, won impressively by stable-mate Synchronize (Savabeel). She resumed with a close fourth on slow footing in March at Hawera, and has the chance to improve, but is another that requires luck from an outside gate draw (17), in the $12,000 Rating 65 1400 metres - the first of a stable duo.

3:24 p.m. R7 11 Dancing Sands (3 f Contributer - Tonic) - Joe Kamaruddin (a1); capitalised on a good trip to win a Pearl Series Maiden 1400 metres on 29 April before copping a wide trip in a Rating 65 1400 metres on 14 May, both at Rotorua. She receives the opportunity to bounce back if appreciative of footing in the $12,000 Rating 65 1400 metres.
