Te Akau Matamata Midweek Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Wednesday 18 December at Matamata (twilight meeting).

Weather: cloudy, track: Dead4, rail: out 3.5 metres. 12mls rain forecast Tuesday and 12mls Wednesday.

5.15 p.m. R5 1 Excitonic (3 g Savabeel - Bint Piavonic) - Danielle Johnson; given time after racing in October, he did everything right when winning a trial on 3 December at Te Aroha. Contesting the $10,000 Maiden 3YO 1200 metres, he has speed to negate barrier 10 and a touch of luck could see him competitive. 

6.29 p.m. R7 5 Full of Grace (5 g O'Reilly - Tuesday's Child) - Joe Kamaruddin (a4); finished solidly for third when trialling on 26 November at Cambridge, and resumes in the $11,000 Rating 72 1200 metres. Strong winning over 1600 metres in February, he has weight relief to 53.5kgs and a solid performance would be encouraging.

6.29 p.m. R7 8 Romantic Lady  (3 f Power - Romantic Time) - Cameron Lammas; presented in first-class order here a fortnight ago and recorded a dominant victory in the Rating 65 1200 metres, with Lammas aboard, having won the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on 7 November at Otaki. She ran the fastest last 600m in both races. Although up in grade for the $11,000 Rating 72 1200 metres, she appears set to test.
