Te Akau Matamata Midweek Preview

Te Akau Racing has seven horses entered on Wednesday 7 June at Matamata.

Weather: cloudy, track: Heavy10, rail: out 8 metres. No rain forecast.

11:47 a.m. R2 3 Our Milly Bee (3 f Merchant Navy - Rina Bettina) - Niranjan Parmar (a2); she was held together finishing fourth at the trials on 26 May at Waipa, and resumes in the $14,000 Maiden 3YO 1200 metres. Placed three from four on heavy going, she enjoys weight relief to 53.5kg, and rates a top three chance from barrier one.

12:20 p.m. R3 8 Coco Angel (3 f Shamexpress - Chapchick) - Warren Kennedy; she found plenty to win well at the trials on 26 May at Waipa, and contests the $14,000 Maiden 1200 metres. Her dam Chapchick (High Chaparral) recorded both wins on heavy ground to 1950 metres, the blinkers are on and she is presented with the opportunity to improve from barrier three.

12:55 p.m. R4 1 Taviarma (2 f Tavistock - Veearma) - Warren Kennedy; she kept up strong gallop for second in a trial on 26 May at Waipa, and resumes in the $14,000 NZB Insurance Pearl Series Maiden Fillies & Mares 1200 metres (eligible $13,000 bonus). Runner-up in the Wakefield Challenge Stakes (Gr. 2, 1100m) at her only start, her dam won debut over 1100 metres on heavy ground, she has the visor blinkers on, and possesses the ability to rate a top three chance.

1:30 p.m. R5 10 Popthebubbles (3 f Wrote - Vickezzlepin) - Joe Kamaruddin (a); she tried hard from beyond midfield on Heavy10 going when resuming in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on 14 May at Matamata, and contests the $14,000 Maiden Fillies & Mares 1400 metres. She is suited stepping up in distance here and appears capable of further improvement.

2:04 p.m. R6 7 Prefer To Play (3 g Preferment - Play Me) - Warren Kennedy; he was caught back and wide when debuting in the Maiden 2YO & 3YO 1400 metres here on 19 April, and contests the $14,000 Maiden 1400 metres. His half-brother Trueman (Keeper) recorded his three wins on heavy tracks, including Matamata, which provides a guide, but he requires a lot of luck from his wide draw (11).

2:44 p.m. R7 2 Baronet (3 g Contributer - Alpha Dame) - Michael McNab; he resumed with a second to stable-mate Stella Splendida (Zoustar) in the Rating 65 1200 metres on 26 April at Hawera, but was unable to quicken on Heavy10 footing in the Rating 65 1200 metres on 20 May at Awapuni, won by stable-mate Fellini (Belardo). He recorded a promising debut victory over 1200 metres on Heavy10 going here in September, and he finds the opportunity to bounce back from barrier one in the $14,000 Rating 65 1400 metres.

3:24 p.m. R8 2 Polly Plum (4 m Xtravagant - Herstory) - Niranjan Parmar (a2); she dropped in grade and sustained a strong gallop on heavy going to win the Rating 60 1400 metres here on 14 May, and contests the $14,000 Rating 65 1400 metres. Aided by weight relief to 56.5kg, she looks a top three prospect with a similar effort.
