Te Akau Matamata Midweek Preview

Te Akau Racing has two horses entered on Wednesday 14 May at Matamata.

Matamata:

Weather: overcast, track: Heavy9, rail: out 5 metres. No rain forecast.

1:07 p.m. R4 12 Viva Glam (3 f Savabeel – Style By Design) – Ace Lawson-Carroll (a1); she travelled handily and picked a path through the field while finishing boldly for fourth in the Maiden 2YO & Up 1200 metres on 3 May at Te Rapa. Contesting the $17,000 Maiden 3YO 1200 metres, she has placed at her only course attempt, there are plenty of unknowns with debutantes in field, but she is ideally drawn (4) to rate a top three chance. Fixed odds: $5.50 & $2.15.

2:54 p.m. R7 13 Akenehi (4 m Fastnet Rock – Igraine) – Vinnie Colgan; she secured cover, improved into a gap at the 250m and finished well for a close fifth in a trial on 29 April at Pukekohe. Resuming in the $17,000 Rating 65 1100 metres, she won a Maiden 1400 metres here on Heavy8 going in June last year. Her dam Igraine (Galileo) impressed winning on soft ground from 1400m – 2100m, including the Group 2 Counties Cup over 2100m, and she has a handy gate (3) to enable her to race well before a potential step up in distance. Fixed odds: $9.00 & $2.70.
