Te Akau Matamata Preview
16 December, 2014
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the eight-race programme on Wednesday December 17 at Matamata.
As on Monday December 15 the conditions were: cloudy and Dead6, rail out 2.5 metres.
3.15 p.m. R1 8 Seline (4 m Pentire - Dion) - Matt Cameron; stayed on through the line for sixth after racing in midfield on Dec. 4 in the Maiden 1800 metres at New Plymouth. Up in distance to contest the Maiden 2000 metres, blinkers on should help her travel more positively and she produced a good finish for fourth to Delago's Secret (Encosta De Lago) over a mile at her only previous attempt on the home course.
3.50 p.m. R2 11 Opulent (3 f Keeper - Silk Slipper) - Matt Cameron; made good inroads out of the pack for second to a handy type when resuming on Nov. 21 in the Maiden 1400 metres at New Plymouth, and now steps to 1600 metres. Plagued with bad draws when looking to start since, she has again drawn wide (14) but from the mile chute should find a reasonable position. She has both the form and ability to be considered a winning chance in this field.
7.33 p.m. R8 11 La Adelita (4 m High Chaparral - Romantic Liaisons) - Matt Cameron; had little chance from the rear in a leader dominated race when resuming on Nov. 14 in the Rating 65 1400 metres for fillies and mares at Woodville. She was impressive winning here on debut, has been patiently handled since, and strips in the right order to prove competitive over a mile.
