Te Akau Matamata Preview
5 May, 2015
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the nine race programme on Wednesday 6 May at Matamata.
As on Tuesday 5 May the conditions were: cloudy and Slow7, rail out 3 metres.
1.42 p.m. Chadsdale (3 g Castledale - Geeiliani) - Cameron Lammas; tracked up on the inside of runners for a very close third on April 11 in the Maiden 1300 metres on Heavy10 footing at Tauranga, following a freshen-up. Stepping to 1400 metres from barrier one appears ideal and the strength of his last start performance should see him right there at the business end.
2.52 p.m. R6 15 Bordeaux (3 g High Chaparral - Our Echezeaux) - Matt Cameron; got back off a wide gate and closed the gap between horses when resuming off 143-days in the Maiden 1400 metres on April 18 at Hastings. The outing should set him up nicely for the Maiden 1600 metres, where he is drawn ideally in barrier seven. While a start here could see him competitive, he still requires one defection to make the field.
3.27 p.m. R7 2 Highly Likely (4 g High Chaparral - Starrinka) - Matt Cameron; made inroads from last when resuming on Easter Monday, April 6, on good footing in the Rating 75 1600 metres at Ellerslie. Stepping to 2000 metres on dead/slow going appears perfect and his second up, and course record (3-1-2), adds the impetus to give this a decent shake.
