Te Akau Matamata Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the eight race twilight programme on Wednesday 16 December at Matamata.

As on Tuesday 15 December the conditions were: cloudy and Dead5; rail out 2 metres.

2.57 p.m. R1 6 Sequitur (4 g High Chaparral - Deduction) - Matt Cameron; put in quite an encouraging performance on debut when finishing seventh in the Maiden 2000 metres at Waipa, and having trained on well he contests the corresponding event. Drawn wide, he rates a first four chance if able to secure some economy during the run.

4.07 p.m. R3 1 Chadsdale (4 g Castledale - Geeiliani) - Grant Cooksley; looks in good order to resume off 179 days in the Maiden 1200 metres and has the benefit of quite a smart trial win on good footing at Te Teko. A touch unlucky not to have won already, he strips as a stronger specimen, likes the home track, and appears a genuine each way chance from barrier six.

6.30 p.m. R7 9 Beacon of Hope (3 g Fastnet Rock - Randaroo) - Matt Cameron; was given a positive ride on pace to win a preparatory trial at Cambridge, with this rider aboard, and resumes off 95 days in the Maiden 1400 metres with blinkers on. His two starts to date have been solid performances and with gate speed to overcome a wide draw he gets his chance to produce a big performance.
