Te Akau Matamata Preview
16 March, 2016
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the eight race programme on Wednesday 16 March at Matamata.
As on raceday the conditions were: showery and Dead4, rail out 3 metres. Rain (9.5mls) is forecast between 1.00 p.m. and 7.00 p.m. race day.
2.18 p.m. R3 6 Zavistic (2 c Zacinto - Miss Avalon) - Matt Cameron; galloped well on Saturday morning and makes his debut in the Maiden 2YO 1200 metres on the back of two very good trial performances, for second and third respectively. Although there is little exposed race day form in the field, he appears a genuine each way chance from barrier five.
2.18 p.m. R3 7 Abloom (2 f Darci Brahma - Corsage) - Cameron Lammas; level pegged with Zavistic in training on Saturday and makes her debut from barrier three. Her two preparatory trials have been solid; the most recent with this rider aboard at Cambridge. She finished fourth in a trial here on 9 February, when Zavistic was second, behind the well performed juvenile Gasoline (Pluck). Her dam, Group One placed Corsage (Volksraad), was a winner on debut at two.
5.12 p.m. R8 12 Thetruthisoutthere (3 f Starcraft - Absolute Faith) - Matt Cameron; had a quiet trial on 23 February at Cambridge, and resumes off 129 days in the Rating 65 1400 metres. With blinkers and tongue tie on, she will ridden quietly from a wide draw and look for a timely drag into proceedings.
