Te Akau Matamata Preview

21 September, 2016

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered for the seven race programme on Wednesday 21 September at Matamata.

As on race morning the conditions were: raining and Heavy11, rail 12.5 metres. 8mls rain forecast race day.

1.40 p.m. R3 8 Discretely Red (3 g Redwood - Scarlet Queen) - Cameron Lammas; finished second on each occasion when trialling on slow and heavy going in August at Te Teko, with Lammas aboard, and makes his debut from barrier one in the Maiden 1200 metres. A half-brother to the stakes winner Emerald Queen (O'Reilly), he has shown genuine attributes and the trials form suggests a solid performance can be expected.

2.50 p.m. R5 8 Cabaret (4 m Showcasing - Something Majic) - Cameron Lammas; was unable to make ground from the rear on Dead4 footing over a mile last Wednesday at Te Rapa. She won her Maiden on heavy going and has side winkers added in the Rating 65 2000 metres. Despite the form line she could race well if appreciative of stepping up in distance.
