Te Akau Matamata Preview
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Wednesday 19 October at Matamata.

As on Tuesday 18 October the conditions were: fine and Slow9, rail true. No rain forecast.

3.50 p.m. R5 7 Stolen Love (3 f Savabeel - Steal) - Matt Cameron; came from seventh at the 600m to finish fifth on debut in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on Slow8 at Waverley, and should benefit from the experience and a step up to 1400 metres. The field appears a touch stronger and she has drawn awkwardly in barrier nine but a good drag into the race should see her rounding off solidly.

4.25 p.m. R6 7 Affinee (4 m Exceed and Excel - Household) - Michael McNab; won off the front when debuting on good footing over 1000 metres in April at Blenheim but slow footing negated the same tactics when resuming on Slow8 over 990 metres at New Plymouth. A gear change: tongue tie on and increasing in distance to 1200 metres will hopefully result in a better performance.

5.00 p.m. R7 3 Amperage (4 g Zabeel - Miss Zapper) - Matt Cameron; closed the margin, from last, in a race won by the leader when resuming on rain-affected Slow8 footing in the Rating 65 1600 metres at Ruakaka, and has blinkers on and a senior jockey for his second-up outing in the corresponding race. A winner over 2100 metres on good ground, he can put his hand up with an improved performance before stepping over more distance.
