Te Akau Matamata Preview
30 May, 2017
Te Akau New Zealand has two horses racing on Wednesday 31 May at Matamata.
As on Tuesday 30 May the conditions were: cloudy and Heavy10, rail out 4 metres. Showers forecast overnight and race day morning.
11.57 a.m. R2 14 Savvy Lady (3 f Savabeel - Modern Lady) - Michael McNab; resumed here 3 May on Slow7 footing in the Maiden Fillies & Mares 1400 metres, and contests the $12,000 NZB Insurance Pearl Series Maiden 1600 metres. With the pedigree to go further, stepping to a mile appears ideal. The addition of blinkers should help her focus and she is capable of an improved performance if appreciative of the track conditions.
3.27 p.m. R8 21 Lucy Wyldstyle (3 f Savabeel - Legs) - rider to be advised; is fifth on the ballot, looking to gain a start in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres. When having her first start since December, here on 3 May, she finished fifth to subsequent winner Blue Shadow (Dalghar) in the Maiden 1200 metres. Handling the going will be crucial for the grand-daughter of New Zealand Oaks winner Legs (Gr. 1, 2400m).
