Te Akau Matamata Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has one horse racing on Wednesday 26 July at Matamata.

As on race morning the conditions were: overcast and Heavy11, rail out 10 metres. No rain forecast.

2.02 p.m. R4 6 Esprit De Corps (4 g Bel Esprit - Vercors) - Tegan Newman (a4); never fired over 1350 metres on Heavy11 at Avondale, following two seconds and two thirds at his previous four starts. Back in distance for the $10,000 Rating 65 1200 metres, he has freshened nicely and worked well here Saturday morning on a very heavy course proper. New Te Akau apprentice Tegan Newman reduces the weight impost to 54kgs and a return to form would rate him a top four chance in an even field.

Tegan Newman won her first race at her first raceday ride on Matamata Breeders' Stakes' Day and has had six rides since.
