Te Akau Matamata Preview
Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Saturday 14 October at Matamata.

As on race morning the conditions were: cloudy and Slow8, rail true with 1ml rain overnight.

1.30 p.m. R3 2 Te Akau Shark (3 g Rip Van Winkle - Bak Da Chief) - Opie Bosson; could hardly have been more impressive when winning the Maiden 3YO 1100 metres on 20 September at Te Rapa, with Bosson aboard, coming from last in the fastest final 600m (34.7) on the day. Rising in class and facing some speedier types in the $25,000 3YO 1400 metres, he could certainly give them a fright in the straight if able to replicate his first up performance. Fixed odds: $2.60 & $1.20.

2.05 p.m. R4 11 Wandering Eye (3 g Commands - Adulterer) - Opie Bosson; jumped well to lead and kicked hard on Slow9 footing to win the Maiden 1200 metres on 22 September at Taupo, and steps up in grade and distance for the $22,500 Rating 65 1400 metres. Holding a 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) nomination, the race will provide a good test, which on his first two performances he appears ready for.
