Te Akau Matamata Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses racing on Wednesday 12 September at Matamata.

As on Tuesday 11 September the conditions were: fine and Slow8, rail out 8 metres. No rain forecast.

1.09 p.m. R2 2 In A Twinkling (3 g Fastnet Rock - Moment in Time) - Shafiq Rusof; charged home for second in the Maiden 2YO 1200 metres (Dead5) when debuting in February at Pukekohe, and following two trials he resumes in the $10,000 Maiden 3YO 1200 metres.  His dam, Moment in Time (Archway), was a dual Group Three winner, dead-heating in a VRC St Leger, and winning six times from 1400m to 2800 metres. Although destined to get over more ground, he appears capable of threatening with luck from a wide draw.

2.54 p.m. R5 2 Seirios (4 g Pierro - Irish Lights) - Nik Bakar (a4); spelled in May following a very good Maiden win over 1400 metres (Slow7) at Waipa, and following two trials, with Bakar aboard, he resumes in the $10,000 Rating 65 1400 metres. A strong and improving horse, from Group One winning parents, claiming to 55kgs and handily drawn in barrier four should aid a bold first up performance.
