Te Akau Matamata Preview
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Wednesday 19 December at Matamata (twilight meeting).

As on Tuesday 18 December the conditions were: fine and Dead5, rail out 3 metres. No rain forecast.

4.22 p.m. R4 13 Kylie Bax (3 f Pentire - Platinum Blond) - Shafiq Rusof; began smartly to trail and finished strongly for second on debut in the Maiden 1200 metres on 29 November at Avondale, and ideally drawn (3) in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres. From the family of Captain Cook Stakes (Gr. 1, 1600m) winner Penny Gem (Pentire), the extra distance appeals in rating her an each way prospect again.

4.57 p.m. R5 2 Rock Idol (4 g Rock ‘N' Pop - Edesia) - Opie Bosson; won a trial over 1250 metres in October at Taupo, and resumes in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres. A big staying type, likely to press forward and could keep rolling to prove competitive with blinkers and tongue tie on.

4.57 p.m. R5 14 Trendsetting (4 m Darci Brahma - Velvet and Satin) - Shafiq Rusof; kept up a good gallop for fourth when trialling here recently on Slow9 and ideally drawn (4) to resume in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres. From the family of Darci Brahma (Danehill) and Burgundy (Redoute's Choice), she should go well fresh-up.
