Te Akau Midweek Ashburton Preview

Te Akau Racing has two horses entered on Wednesday 24 December at Ashburton.

12:52 p.m. R3 6 Options Open (3 f Darci Brahma – Optimiser) – Kate Hercock; she was unable to quicken out of midfield in the Pearl Series Maiden Fillies & Mares 1200 metres on 19 November at Timaru, also with Hercock aboard. Since then, she has been patiently handled and given time (35 days) before contesting the $25,000 Maiden 3YO 1200 metres. She finished strongly for a close third, the start prior over 1200 metres during Cup Week at Riccarton, has been first and second in trials on this course, and this is her opportunity to bounce back with a decent trip from barrier nine. Fixed odds: $5.00 & $2.00.

2:40 p.m. R6 1 Rule Of Law (5 g Justify – Repeat) – Triston Moodley (a1); he ran home well for second following an economical trip when resuming in the Rating 65 1200 metres on 5 December at Riccarton (poly-track), and contests the $25,000 Rating 65 1400 metres. He fought solidly for fifth at his only previous course attempt, is in good form, and can bee competitive with some luck from his wide draw (11). Fixed odds: $4.80 & $2.00.
