Te Akau Midweek Cambridge Preview

Te Akau Racing has eight horses entered on Wednesday 28 June at Cambridge.

Weather: fine, track: poly-track, rail: true.

12:07 p.m. R2 7 Image of You (5 m Pins - Exactly Like You) - Jessica Allen (a4); she raced wide throughout in the Rating 75 1600 metres on 5 June at Hastings, and contests the $25,000 Rating 75 1550 metres. She won three starts ago, looked good finishing second in a trial here, enjoys weight relief to 50.5kg, and receives the opportunity to bounce back to winning form.

1:12 p.m. R4 6 Our Milly Bee (3 f Merchant Navy - Rina Bettina) - Jessica Allen (a4); she was unable to quicken on Heavy10 footing when resuming in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on 7 June at Matamata, and contests the $15,000 Maiden 3YO 1300 metres. She has trial experience on the poly-track, and with weight relief to 51.5kg, she is presented with the opportunity to improve with luck from barrier 10.

1:45 p.m. R5 1 Final Red (2 g Burgundy - Tad Infinitum) - Michael McNab; he ran the fastest last 600m (34.5) when rounding off strongly for third in the Pearl Series Maiden 2YO 1300 metres here on 14 June, and contests the $15,000 Maiden 2YO 1300 metres. He rates a top three chance from his handy barrier (4).

2:17 p.m. R6 3 Aequus (3 f Iffraaj - Equanimity) - Craig Grylls; she finished strongly for fifth when resuming in the Maiden 970 metres on 17 May and has been given time (28 days) since a determined victory in the Maiden 1300 metres on 31 May, both here at Cambridge. With the same winning jockey engaged, she looks a top three prospect in the $15,000 NZB Insurance Pearl Series Rating 65 Fillies & Mares 1300 metres (eligible $13,000 bonus).

2:17 p.m. R6 5 Angel Wings (3 f Heroic Valour - Gowana) - Jessica Allen (a4); she displayed appreciation of the poly-track with a deserved victory in the Pearl Series Maiden 1300 metres here on 31 May. Also given time (28 days) like her stablemate above, she steps up in the $15,000 NZB Insurance Pearl Series Rating 65 Fillies & Mares 1300 metres, has weight relief to 54.5kg, and should go well again with a decent trip from the awkward gate (9).

2:54 p.m. R7 1 Pokuru Show (3 g Vadamos - Mystery Show) - Craig Grylls; he followed up two good efforts on the poly-track with a strong finish for second in the Maiden 970 metres here on 14 June, and contests the $15,000 Maiden 970 metres. He is racing well, and presents as a top three chance from barrier three.

4:04 p.m. R9 1 Treaty of Paris (3 g Tavistock - Echezeaux) - Warren Kennedy; he finished second after racing outside the leader in the Maiden 2000 metres here on 31 May, and has since had a hurdle trial on 19 June at Cambridge. He has been racing solidly and can deliver a top three finish in the $15,000 Maiden 2000 metres.

4:04 p.m. R9 5 Rare Company (3 g Savabeel - Fast Company) - Kozzi Asano; he stepped up in distance for the first time with a solid fifth in the Maiden 2000 metres here on 14 June, and likewise contests the $15,000 Maiden 2000 metres. He shapes to improve further if he can overcome his tricky barrier (9).
