Te Akau Midweek Cranbourne Preview

Te Akau Racing has two horses entered Wednesday 2 October at Cranbourne (Victoria).

Cranbourne:

Weather: overcast, track: Good4, rail: out 9 metres. No rain forecast.

4:00 p.m. (NZ) ~ 1:00 p.m. (Vic) R1 5 Esternay (3 f All Too Hard – Sezanne) – Michael Dee; she raced handily in the open and let down well to win a jump out (trial) here on 23 September, and debuts in the A$37,500 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres. Her dam Sezanne won twice to 1250 metres in Australia, leaving Joiselle (Snitzel), the winner of three from four starts to 1200 metres, and her grand-dam Champagne Harmony (Choisir) was a Group Two winning sprinter. From the family of Champion mare Champagne (Zabeel), she is perfectly drawn (5) to kick-off on her now home track. NZ TAB fixed odds: $9.00 & $2.60.

4:35 p.m. (NZ) ~ 1:35 p.m. (Vic) R2 11 Exuberance (3 f Savabeel – Miss Opulence) – Craig Williams; she circled from last with a big run for third when debuting in the Maiden 3YO Fillies 1140 metres on 13 September at Geelong, and contests the A$37,500 Maiden 1200 metres. She displayed ability for a win and two thirds when trialling in New Zealand, and recorded a strong second in jump out (trial) here before racing. She is well positioned to be a top three contender from her handy barrier (4) with the senior rider aboard.  NZ TAB fixed odds: $2.50 & $1.25.
