Te Akau Midweek Preview
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing at two venues on Wednesday 7 September.

Matamata:

As on Tuesday 6 September the conditions were: cloudy and Heavy10, rail out 9 metres. 1.5mls rain forecast 12 - 6 p.m. race day.

1.20 p.m. R2 8 Corporate Missile (3 f Smart Missile - Corporate) - Matt Cameron; was compelling over the concluding stages to win a trial in heavy conditions on 2 August at Te Teko, and resumed with a bold finishing sixth to Sweet Leader (O'Reilly) over 1000 metres on Dead4 at Taupo. She produced the second fastest last 600m (34.3) and with natural improvement appears an each way chance, with a tongue tie on, from barrier seven in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres.

3.04 p.m. R5 13 Cabaret (4 m Showcasing - Something Majic) - Jasmine Fawcett (a4); finished behind the pack here on 24 August, over 1200 metres on Slow7. She won her Maiden on heavy going, so should benefit by more testing conditions, weight relief to 51kgs, and a step up in distance for the Rating 65 1400 metres.

Sandown, Melbourne:

As on Tuesday 6 September the conditions were: fine and Good4, rail out 7 metres. No rain forecast.

3.00 p.m. (NZT 5.00 p.m.) R5 3 Shillelagh (5 m Savabeel - Trocair) - Damien Oliver; resumes in the $40,000 Benchmark 84 Fillies and Mares 1200 metres, having been most impressive when winning her previous start in $22,500 Rating 75 1200 metres on Dead4 at Ruakaka, where she clocked 1:10.7 and ran the fastest final 600m (34.4) of the meeting. A classy mare that has won four of her six starts, she acts fresh, opened a $3.80 favourite, and should receive a lovely trip from barrier three in a field of nine.
