Te Akau Midweek Taupo Preview
Date: 10 Oct 2023
Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Wednesday 11 October at Taupo.
Weather: cloudy, track: Good4, rail: true. No rain forecast.
1:07 p.m. R2 4 Time Is King (3 g Darci Brahma – Tiffany’s Time) – Opie Bosson; he ranged out of midfield when fourth in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on 20 September at Matamata, and contests the $18,500 Maiden 3YO 1300 metres. He is ideally drawn (3) to present as a top three chance.
2:17 p.m. R4 12 Court Of Appeal (3 f Eminent – Katy O’Beel) – Joe Kamaruddin; she drifted back from a wide draw and finished well for third when trialling on 26 September at Cambridge (poly-track), and debuts in the $18,500 Maiden 3YO 1300 metres. She finished second when trialling here as a two-year-old. She is from a mare that won three times to 2200 metres, in turn from impressive staying mare Katy Keen (Zorro’s Lad), a Group Two and Group Three winner that won 10 times to 2500 metres.
5:14 p.m. R9 5 Malborough Bay (4 g Darci Brahma – Spin ‘N Grin) – Michael McNab; he sustained a powerful finish to post a stylish win in the Rating 65 1400 metres on 27 August at Matamata, but was without the same finishing kick in the Rating 75 1400 metres on 17 September at Te Rapa. A runner-up here early in his career, he is stakes' placed and is a consistent performer, so this is an opportunity for him to bounce back to form from barrier four in the $18,500 Rating 75 1400 metres.
