Te Akau Midweek Trackwork

Date: 8 Oct 2014

Highlights from Te Akau trackwork at Matamata - Wednesday 8 October -

Against the running rail on a dead course proper, Te Akau's reigning NZB Filly of the Year Costa Viva (Hercock) galloped in company with Chambord (Lammas), picking up the pace from the 1200m they were timed in 1:17.4, 1:02.8 for the 1000m and finished the final 600m in a strong 35.8.

The work pleased trainer Jason Bridgman as both horses head into black type assignments this Saturday. Costa Viva will resume in the Group 3 Rich Hill Stud Taranaki Breeders' Stakes over 1400m while Chambord will stay local in a bid to bring home the Listed Matamata Cup over 1600m.

On the sand:

Prince Henry (Lammas) had a nice hit out ahead of the 3YO 1200m event at Matamata on Saturday. He went an easy 1000m in 1:10.4 and cruised home the last 600m in 39.8.

Also on the sand, Resonance (Hercock) galloped solo over 1000m in 1:07.5 and 40.3 while Skyscraper (Allan) covered the same distance at three-quarter pace.
