Te Akau Midweek Update

David writes:

It is a beautiful day today at Te Akau Stud - it was so close to being a frost at 5.30am but that likelihood had disappeared by 6.30am.

We are 80% of our way through the docking of our lambs and with a big day today we will only have a couple of very small paddocks left to complete tomorrow.  The lambing percentage certainly won't be as high as last year but the prices will be much better.

Today we have New Zealand Bloodstock coming this morning to see our sale yearlings at 10.30am and then two great friends of mine in David Smith and Tony Enting are coming for lunch.

Dave was my Deputy Chairman when I was Chairman of the Waikato Racing Club for five years and Tony was the General Manager.  It was a very happy team and each year we try and have an afternoon together.

The grass here at the farm is simply bolting at present and I have never seen stock do so well in September.  Tomorrow I am looking forward to spending the day at Matamata where I will be looking at our horses and will also be looking at horses for the Ready to Run Sale.
