Te Akau Midweek Update

It looks as if we are going to get some more rain today. It's hard for most people to believe but we need all the rain we can get from now on (except for the tracks - Ed)!
Our the last weekend, I firmed up on the purchase of a lovely 2YO filly by Mastercraftsman out of Down View. This filly is a half sister to Mexican Rose who was the Champion 2YO and Champion 3YO in Singapore.
As usual with our Te Akau horses, the filly sold very quickly and we now have a waiting list. Our full attention now turns to the Ready to Run Sale in the next five weeks - I am spending a great deal of time going through the catalogue, lot by lot, and I have to say that on paper there are some very well bred horses in this sale. They run up, or breeze up as it is known, on the Te Rapa straight in about 10 days time.
I have been receiving lots of calls and emails of support regarding my health. It is a long slog to get back to full health but I feel a little better each day. All the specialists tell me that it will be another eight weeks before I get back to full fitness. I just can't wait. The worst thing is that they have told me that I am allowed to eat and drink whatever I like (within reason) but the medication leaves such a terrible taste in my mouth that even a nice glass of red doesn't taste that good!
In the last couple of months I have also been busy buying some particularly nice yearlings for John Galvin's Fortuna Syndicates. A couple of Darci Brahma's and a quality Henrythenavigator. I think I have now bought 48 yearlings in the last 12 months and all are fully sold and paid for.
On Monday we had three runners at Avondale for three second placings - gee Jason and the team have the horses racing really well and we have some really good chances at Taupo today.
I hope to be up to travelling to Matamata next week to see the horses and even go to Cambridge and Waikato Studs to see some of our foals.
